COMMITTED TO FOUNDRIES
Foseco Germany CEO Talks to Messe Daily

12.06.2007 | Heinz Nelissen Interview

Heinz Nelissen,  Chief Executive Officer of Foseco GmbH, Germany talks to Messe Daily at GIFA 2007.

What innovations will be presented by FOSECO at GIFA 2007?

Foseco will be presenting lots of innovations at this year's GIFA. To name but a few: for Non-Ferrous applications we have contoured feeder sleeves, electrochemical hydrogen sensors for real-time measurement of the hydrogen content in aluminium melts and a new MTS melt treatment station for a one-step complete melt treatment process incorporating a newly developed degassing rotor.

For ferrous foundries, we will present our new dynamically controlled MSI metal stream inoculation equipment, KALPUR direct pour technology on a DISAMATIC pattern plate, STELEX PrO filters for very large sg iron castings, optimised SEDEX applications for mass production, a new filter handling robot, latest FEEDEX K compressor core solutions and the new KALMINEX product range.

For the mould and core area, we will be offering technologically improved and environmentally friendly PUCB binders, newly developed anti-veining additives and, of course, our improved coatings range for large scale jobbing and mass production applications.

A special highlight will be the Casting Competence Center, a joint stand of MAGMA and FOSECO. Here we will present the generation of thermophysical feeder data for computer simulation as well as new and more precise simulations with the help of this data.

What are the recent trends in foundry technology?

At the moment foundries are producing at capacity and they are interested in new developments to increase productivity, optimise output and reduce costs. A special focus will be on products to maximise yield, on automatic product handling and different possibilities to reduce energy consumption and improve environment.

How do you see the co-operation with your customers, i.e. the foundries?

FOSECO and the foundries both look for an intensive, trusting and long-lasting partnership. When offering a solution to the modern foundryman we always have to keep in mind the overall production costs, but if this goal is achieved the foundryman is ready to reveal to us even confidential data within the frame of the project.

Where do you see the markets for foundries in future?

The German foundry industry is booming, especially when looking at mass production sector. You can say, Germany is a market of the Present and the Future. The fastest-growing European markets Europe are in Turkey and the East. In the rest of the world. growth is particularly strong not just in China and India, but also in South and Middle America.

What do you expect of GIFA 2007?

We are expecting even more visitors from all over the world than in the past; registrations are up, especially from Asia, Eastern Europe and North and South America. We hope to be able to convince the foundrymen of our innovative products and services, but also of our philosophy which is based on value adding co-operation. Thereby we would like to initiate a large number of different and customised projects.

I would like to invite you to visit us at our booth in hall 3/stand .... and at the Casting Competence Center, also hall 3/stand ... We are looking forward to seeing you!
