On 23 December 2008, after a long process, the divestiture of Hi-Tech, Vesuvius' ceramic filters business, was completed to companies owned by Süd-Chemie AG.
This divestment was a condition raised by the EU and US competition authorities   in order to gain their approval for the Foseco acquisition.  
 
Foseco will continue to produce and market its own range of ceramic foam filters for steel filtration - STELEX and STELEX PrO. With the completion of the Hi-Tech sale, Foseco will also refocus its efforts to better serve the investment casting market with filter products. This approach will take advantage of the synergies made possible through the merger with the former Vesuvius Foundry business.
